The Westchester County LST-1167 Association contacted CRBronzeworks to produce a plaque dedicated to the memory of twenty-three sailors and soldiers killed in the mining of the WESCO on November 1, 1968, while attached to River Assault Division 111. To our surprise, we were eventually able to raise financial support sufficient for four plaques and the two podiums needed for outside mounting.
CRBronzeworks and Char Dastrup are among the finest companies and people I have worked with on any project be it personal or professional. We went through several edits before casting the plaque and the company had to work with four different organizations across the country for delivery and preparation for installation. Every task was performed to perfection and on time. One plaque was dedicated at our ship reunion in June 2024, but three had to arrive for dedications on November 1, 2024 for the 56th anniversary of the mining. I could not give a more unqualified recommendation, for Char and her company.
