Grave Marker Foundation Information
At CR Bronzeworks we manufacture bronze grave markers and plaques.
In almost all cases, the bronze grave marker will be mounted to a flat granite or concrete foundation.
We are frequently asked about the foundation and how the bronze is mounted to it.
On this page we will try to explain this process and use photos
so you can better understand. When a customer orders a bronze marker from us, we typically ship the bronze directly
to the cemetery where it is mounted to a foundation (granite or concrete) and placed at the grave site for a fee.
This fee is different at every cemetery and you will want to check with the cemetery to find out if they provide this
service and what the costs are. In many cases you can save money by having this service provided locally by either the cemetery or a monument dealer located in the
same town as the cemetery.

If you want CR Bronzeworks to provide the foundation and ship it to the cemetery ready to place at the grave site,
we can definitely provide this for you.
We do not stock the granite foundations in our foundry.
When a granite foundation is required we will take your finished bronze marker to Beesley Monuments in Provo, Utah.
They will mount the bronze to the granite and get the marker ready for shipping.
They keep many standard sizes in stock so that you will not have to wait long
for a granite shipment.
If they do not have your specific granite size or color in stock,
then Beesley Monuments will place an order for your granite.
Keep in mind that in order for Beesly Monuments to be cost effective, they must order a truckload of granite at a time.
In some cases they order the granite pre-drilled for the vase hole. If they do not have the vase hole drilled at the quarry, then there is a $50.00 charge for Beesleys to drill the hole.
Typically they bring in a truckload every 1-3 months depending on the time of year. This means that you could wait for as much as
12 weeks for your specific granite to arrive.
When the bronze has been mounted to the granite, the complete grave marker is made ready for shipping. In most cases the complete package exceeds the
limits of the US Postal Service as well as UPS and therefore it must be shipped by truck to it's final destination.
The complete marker is wrapped in cardboard and banded with steel bands and in most cases the package is shipped to it's destination
via truck in 3-5 business days. The shipping price is determined based on the size and weight of the package as well as the destination.
We will have to get a custom quote for each delivery.

If you are purchasing your own granite or cement foundation locally, you will recieve a bolt pack with the bronze marker. Each package contains four 5" long 3/8" diameter bronze bolts,
4 large washers and 4 nuts to use to fasten the bronze to the foundation.
All of our bronze markers have a pre-drilled lug in each of the four corners on the back side of the marker.
You simply screw the bolts into each of the lugs. Be careful not to overtighten them. You may need to tap the end of the bolts slightly to make them more perpendicular to the marker.
Once all of the bolts have been screwed into the back of the marker, then align them up with the 4 pre-drilled holes in your granite foundation. Typically the holes in the granite are 1" in diameter giving you room to adjust the bronze
to make it align nicely with the granite. If you are using a 4" thick granite slab, the bolts will go all the way through the granite so that you can secure the bronze to the granite using the 4 washers and nuts provided.
| We hope this page has been helpful to you in gaining a better understanding of a process that most of us do not experience very often. If you still have questions regarding any aspect of the grave marker installation please do not hesitate to ask us. |
